I always find that shooting into the sun in the early afternoon, at about a 45 degree angle, gets best results in terms of background for this kind of shot. The grass always ends up looking a little brighter and more ephemeral, and brings out stronger contrasts on the subject.

Absolutely beautiful catch. Don't care for the busyness of the grass, but what can you do?

This is an amazing photo. The crop seems awkward but with the bird in flight you didn't have a choice. 9

Good capture. Though the light is working against you somewhat.

How nice of him to have a dark underwing, it makes his face stand out perfectly. I also like the way his wing feathers swoop so gracefully at the tips. Nice capture.

This is interesting. I am not used to see birds like this so close to the ground and when I have seen shots of them close to the ground it is desert (or scenes like that) so the grass is a nice different touch. The shot seems pretty sharp to me but I would like to see the wing tips either completly stopped or ahve a bit more motion but that is much easier said than done:) Crop is maybe a bit close but not bad. Only thing I can really say I would want is to ahve his prey in the shot too.great job.
