This is our side of the bay, or the back bay, as we call it. This is taken from a park less than 1/2 mile from my house. The sand dunes in the background separate the bay from the ocean. The birds in front are, except for the front guy, Brant Geese. These geese breed in coastal Alaska and come down to the bay for winter. The other black dots behind them are a variety of sea ducks.

The Morro Bay Bird Festival starts today and draws bird watchers from all over to participate in seminars and outings. I noticed that these Brants were in a particular bad mood today and were earlier cranking and nipping at each other. I figured it must be pre-performance jitters.

the blue of the water and sky broken by the dunes creates an interesting tension here.

The Back Bay is wonderfully blue and the ducks are beautiful. The dunes in the background are a great separation between water and sky. I too would get a little jittery if I was a bird and the Morro Bay Bird Festival was about to begin.

the sand feel like a desert scene, and they are very smooth here. Very peaceful & serene image Jeb, love the motion you caught as the ducks motored along throughh thhe scene..

You have a very nice park near where you live, and it is good that you use it. Birds are just cool.
Thanks for another completely different look at the place where you live.

So the geese have picked a duck as their leader?! Like a little tugboat out there in front of the big boats ;-)

I like how the sand breaks up the sky from the water.
