I don't generally like noise but I think it actually works here. One of the things I like about side challenges is the chance to experiment with processing :-)

This is an American Robin, pouffed against the cold wind. I was safe and warm inside with the long lens.

Sometimes birds with grain like yours are wonderful. Did you try desaturating all the colors but red and yellow. Might be really an interesting shot. Van

I actually like the grain or noise in this much better than I thought I did at first. Thanks for taking the chance on processing.

I'm swinging back and forth between liking the noise and not. But you are absolutely right, that's the fun with these challenges...experimentation and FUN.

That is a cool effect. It looks like it was shot underexposed at the highest available iso, then brought to life in processing. Whatever you did, it makes a very nice image.

I don't generally like noise either.. The way this works for me is it's like a drawing and one would say a very good one..

Nice. Noise does work generally in this one, although if I look at this for a period of time I start seeing noise patterns that are distracting. (Maybe the result of some cloning in sections?)

I didn't like this at first, I must say, but after looking at it for a while, I came to appreciate it much more. It almost looks like a pointillist picture.

I think the grain works for this too, almost makes it look like a drawing.

I take a lot of pictures of these guys from inside the house too! I open the upstairs bathroom window and hang my head out! I think the noise does kind of add something to this too. It kind of looks like a coloured pencil drawing.
