The Powerhouse was the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad's celebratory centerpiece, as if it were one of many ornamental train depots that lined the Hudson; its overwhelming architectural beauty and engineering majesty, quite unheard of for a powerhouse, magnificently mirrored the miraculous tubular system that dared to bellow beneath city streets, bedrock, clay, water—a system whose fabled origins stretch back to 1874 and which was, at its completion, deemed one of the greatest large-scale engineering feats of the age.

Weird, no levels were adjusted for this. All I did was resize and usm (I didn't even need to crop it).

Basically the building itself looks like it used to be covered in a lot of soot from when the area used to be filled with factories bilging out smoke. Since then a lot of it has got washed away with time, leaving lots of interesting patterns in the brickwork.
I think the green flecks are just moss and grasses growing through the brickwork (that is the only green I see).

It was taken pretty early in the morning (around 8am I think) with very bright sun low in the sky to try and maximize it's features.

Love the texture in this shot. Also the foreground grass makes it stand out too.

Not a very interesting shot I'm afraid. Would have liked to see more of the building...
