This is the other end of the road I live on taken last night or early this morning. I moved across the street from some quiet apartments and am standing in my driveway with my tripod watching the plowtruck detail the road. You can see the packed-down snow/ice on the road.

The town of Twisp has a couple of dumptrucks they use to plow the roads at night between the hours of 1:00 a.m. until they are finished.

Twisp only plows at night so if we get half a foot of snow during the day we have to wade thru it and slush our way about work and chores.

Yes, it gets tiresome. The snow burm in the foreground is where I've piled the snow from my driveway.

The truck is backing up so his lights are so bright and the above lamppost lights burned-out, but I left them as I seem to have lost my desire to alter my images too much these days!!

They don't use salt because of destablizing the salmon streams. They use some horrible cloride stuff that melts the snow and ruins your brakes. This year they decided against it probably because of the added expense, as the town is now having to pay to plow the newly put-in sidewalks. Small town, limited budget.

Plus, every other road in town is a deadend road. I had no idea why until I moved directly into town...they push the snow to the end of the road. duh

Twisp is 2 hours north of Wenatchee, 3 hours north of I-90. 5 hours east of Seattle and 2 hours south of Canada. 3 hours west of Spokane. The middle of nowhere, basically.

i like the not so overprocessed look to this, am trying that approach myself.

Never heard of Twisp, had to see where youa re int he universe...casade mtns..OR or WA? This is perfect night sccene, and lots going on to be curious about...thanks for the tale which accompanies it. Do they at least put some salt or sand on top of that nice icey crust which gets left behind after the trucks go through???

BTW, I hope you don't get much snow in the daylight hours! That could make fo ron emmessy rush hour, although fromt he sounds of things, there is no rush in Twisp...

Our town ploes all day long on all the primary roads, but the secondary roads only get a once over at first then they come back later.

This is interesting, it makes me think about how lonesome it must be to drive around all night plowing snow.
