Taken while orbiting the planet on December 28th.

I was making repairs to the ship when a gust of solar wind hit the sails - knocking me askew. Luckily, I was tethered to the craft and I took this shot after I regained my senses.

In the upper left is a view of the Indian Ocean. The outer skin of the ship, seen from this vantage point, appears almost stone-like in appearance and I thought the illusion was cool.

The sail, fully unfurled on the right hand side of the photo, contrasts neatly against the hull (especially the missing panel which reflects and mimics the ships portholes), and balances the blue and white of the Earth's atmosphere.

I still suspect there may be some confusion about what the "subject" of the photo is, and how the "contrast" shows "isolation".

The isolation of space is difficult to communicate unless you've been here.

Hopefully, the title, a snippet taken from David Bowie's "Space Oddity", will get me enough of an uptick from the old folks to push the vote for this image above a 5.

Peace. Out.

I enjoy the disorienting, energetic composition.

Ironically this whole image lacks contrast. :-)

Definitely an odd perspective. It took some looking to see where the reflection really was. still not sure what direction this is looking in. Some digital noise and odd coloration toward the left is clearly visible. Looks like the result of trying to bring that detail out of the shadows.

The title is very apt. I look and look but find it a bit visually confusing.
