inspiration came while my own phone was ringing off the hook last night.

sometimes disconnecting is a good thing.

separated into channels. converted the blue channel to greyscale and added a slight bit of noise while playing with levels.

This shot speaks volumes. I think you wanted the grainy look. I like it.

Bzzz, bzzz, bzzz... In my country, the phone makes a loud buzz when it is left off the hook - though in time it goes silent that is not what I first think about. I wish the depth of field were deeper here.

Wow, a dial telephone!

I like the lite grainy "texture" of this one since you are photograping an old thing. The DOF is also very nice

Good DOF usage, and great focus, but I used to have one of these phones, and off the hook, it is anything but quiet.....

Yeah yeah I'm a sucker for interesting use of low DOF. 8

great idea !!! original

Good concept. The graininess works very well here and the DOF and composition are good in this image.

grainy and noisy - both in the technical sense and in the sense that there is always a noise when phone is off the hook

hmmm.... what to say. it is too bad there is dust on the image.. or white flecks. interesting shot, it doensn't keep me though for some reason....

Good idea. A little harsh in lighting though.

this remeinds me of many a classic shot in the movies where the receiver has a voice coming outthat never stops. not silence to me. nice use of DOF though.

Makes me think of an old black and white movie. Love the depth.

Nice B/W, I like the grainy and blurry background, gives the retro looking phone a real retro look. The crop might be better, the "thingy-you-speak-into-and-i-don't-know-whats-called" is croped of both left and a tiny bit on the lower side. Would like to see some of the shadows on either side.

I've never heard of a phone off the hook being silent. At least not that close to one anyway.
