Great shot! I love finding these kinds of scenes around shorelines.

Excellent for this challenge. Really like the lighting.
12/30/2007 04:29:12 PM
I love the composition of this. It's very simple and beautiful.

8 - Oh, very nice. Aren't you fortunate to find (presumption) an urchin shaped like this. Nice texture, especially in the sand. My two minor nit-picks would be the image (especially because of the water) seems like it needs a fraction nudge up on the left, and the slope of the dune tapering into the top right corner - either more 'exact' (the 'edge going out' of the corner), or else more included, not sure.

Delightful!
12/29/2007 11:03:46 PM
The shot for me would have been better without the sea critter or whatever it is. The texture of the sand and relatively shallow depth of field make for a better picture by them selves in my opinion.
12/29/2007 12:19:27 PM
I love this shot! It makes me feel like taking a holiday! Excellent exposure and I love the way you have brought out the texture in the sand as well as the urchin. (It is an urchin, isn't it?) You know what I mean :-) Well done!
12/29/2007 08:44:43 AM
Very nice. Great texture, not too busy, straightforward. Gotta go high.
12/28/2007 06:29:32 PM
one of my favs for top 5...excellent..9
12/28/2007 05:10:11 PM
Interesting textures.
12/28/2007 04:43:33 PM
Love it! Depth of field is perfect - lighting is perfect - bags of texture!
12/28/2007 04:08:19 PM
clean, nice subject placement, although it does feel intentionally placed instead of natural.
12/28/2007 07:35:12 AM
Now THIS is texture! Great shot, love how you use the ehrrmmm thingy.
12/28/2007 01:13:52 AM
Wonderful. Sharp detail where we want it and the background gives us context without being distracting. Great control of your focus.
12/27/2007 04:09:58 PM
wow! The best I have seen so far :-)
12/27/2007 03:57:32 PM
very nice textures here. Also like the colors, the lighting and the simplicity of the composition
12/27/2007 12:20:36 PM
simple...!
12/27/2007 09:23:24 AM
Good idea! But perhaps you will get a better composition cropping some sand at the bottom part and including a bit more flora at the upper part.
12/26/2007 10:12:16 PM
Mmm... this takes me away from the snowy landscape outside my window. I really like the muted colors against the light blue sky, the differing textures, and the composition.
12/26/2007 06:32:45 PM
Beautiful image! Perfect for this theme. Great lateral/back lighting--I love how it hits the shell and projects a shadow toward the bottom left corner of the photo. I played in my head with how the image would look like without the plants and sea in the background, and I completely agree with your choice--the bokeh in the background adds to the image. Congratulations!
12/26/2007 06:06:47 PM
Very interesting dof.... nice textures.
12/26/2007 11:17:44 AM
This is really nice, I love the framing of the shadow.
12/26/2007 10:34:26 AM
Nice idea..If the shot was a bit taller and the ball was in lower right quadrant it would be better IMHO. As it is the ball is too centered vertically.
