At lunch today I was going to go for a walk in a park but decided to see if I could something Christmas related and decided to see if the local visitor center had a wreath or something outside. When I turned into the lot I saw a big sign stating that there was a free Winter Wonderland display. In I go with my camera.

It had been a while since I was inside and the lighting and architecture really grabbed my eye and you can see a bit in the background. But the highlight of course was the Christmas tree display, decorated by local groups with their theme. You can see a bit on the left a huge train set. Santa had a display setup in the back but he only comes on weekends. First photo is free and after that $5 each. Compare that to the local mall at $27 for the cheapest package! Oh yeah, Santa uses Alien Bees for lighting.

They had Christmas music playing and it was the slow, traditional stuff I like. There were only a few people there and it was relaxing to walk around taking pictures.

I was trying to enhance the whole Winter Wonderland theme with my processing:

pseudo-HDR to bring out shadow detail
nik Efex pastel filter
some basic adjustments
onOne PhotoFrame Pro for frame

I don't know how much time I have left on the PhotoFrame demo, but I'm sure going to miss it!

This is just so beautiful, Ken! Really should be a card...have you ever made stuff on Zazzle? I'd buy it!

Magical! Great capture of the holiday atmosphere. You can make a frame like that with The Gimp - they have a fuzzy border feature that you can manipulate pretty well. Though I'm sure it's not as fancy as PhotoFrame. :o)

What a nice shot. You need to pitch this one to some of the card companies. Thumbs up to the people who decorated the place as well. It's beautiful.
