Sometimes those who are abused in some form are quite and silent, afraid to speak and free themselves. Usually because they feel degraded useless and not worthy of themselves. Everything breaks down inside. I hope this photo doesn't offend anyone, no intentions to do so. Yes it can happen to male counterparts too.
I shot this pose with a harder direct lighting to bring up the detail of the face to show more roughed up and hard life feel to it. Then adjusted the colors a bit and curves. Tried to get the "noise" out as much a possible, I shot it with Sony DSC-F717. (Hee-Hee) However, I hope that I may have better results with a Canon Rebel in the future.

Very realistic effects. It's nice to see someone take the time to make it look real...rather than using ketchup like so many others. :-)

thank you for you all's comments and votes. I have to agree as well now that the tape has to go. I see it now. Hmmm, I hoped that I didn't get a low score on this one due the content from it, or was it the tape? Perhaps just the image itself? However, it was a fun shot for me. learn a bit from it. thanks again for your alls input and advice.

This is one of a number of "taped mouth" entries but with a sinister twist. I hope its make up and if so nicely done.

one of the cooler taped mouths for sure, 8

This image confuses me -- is he supposed to be the abused spouse? Is he the abuser, injured himself in the fray, and the tape is only symbolic about no one will talk about it? I don't get it.

Overwrought...nice make-up job, though

The tight crop works very well to really bring home the impact of this message.

Many people tried this concept. For me this is the only one that worked. Maybe it was the bruise. Maybe it was because you chose a man as the subject. Who cares it works!!!

Ouch. Quite Symbolic.

this is an interesting twist in that this is a dude instead of a woman. The expression is really authentic. The duck tape is a bit too much tho, IMO, since the title is very apt & adds to the shot.

Powerful!! a great statement, but I'm not sure the tape is necessary. Let your model speak for you.

I think this picture would have made more of a statement without the taped mouth, though I still think it is moving

Great makeup job. Male abuse, more and more common. Sad. Good entry. Good luck in the challenge.
