Challenge: Fire (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717

The marshmallow was burnt and extinguished. It was placed on a giant fork which was held in place by clamps. A mirror was placed under the set-up. The shot was lit by bouncing a strobe off the ceiling and "dancing" a flame behind. In effect, painting it with fire. Post shot processing was simply cleaning up the background and saving for the web. This was pretty much "out of camera". After the shoot, the prop was eaten, hence the title.

Angle of the placement of the subjects makes the composition dynamic and interesting. Love the little details in the wooden handle. The black background really makes the flame pop out. Nice and simple and well shot. "10"

I know it probably is and either my eyes are not working right, which is a probability or is it an illussion that the fire/flame does not appear to be on the marshmallow? just bothers me a bit. Of Course my eyes could be playing tricks on me. The detail on the mallow on the forge are very fine.

Marshmallows seem to be a popular choice for this them. Nice composition on this one.

I like how the marshmallow is framed by the bright flame. The scorch mark on the front gives some nice contrast. 7

As you undoubtedly know, there are several incinerated marshmallows in the Challenge. I think you did yours best. It's still edible for one, which means you got it right the first time, or had a good backup supply! Kidding aside, it's a good image and well worth a 9.

This is the best of the marshmellow shots, imho. Good dynamic composition, and a marshmellow that's toasted just the right amount in the spot we see. The blown out spot where the fire is tends to be a bit of a distraction, since that is what the challenge is all about, but not a bad job for such a tricky exposure situation.

nicely composed and lit - could use more color to add a punch to the shot.

Nice udea. Nice shot. The fork is getting too much of the attention. More focus on the flame and marshmellow would have been better.
