Close up of some pieces from the RISK board game. It's a strategy game were players have to command armies to conquer territories. Since the game is full of conflict, I thought it was an appropriate subject.

Image was resized for submission and levels adjusted. Cleaned up a bit in neatimage. Scene was lit with a spotlamp from the side, with white paper in front to diffuse the light.

Hi greetings from the CC, I find this subject while fitting the topic of limited appeal, while on dpc fitting the topic is key to a lot of participants, yet I think finding images that are engaging outside the challenge is important as well. IMO producing shots that show emotion or have an ability to wow the viewer are the goals of our craft. I would encourage you to find subjects that (perhaps fit the challenge) that are also engaging and have a universal vs. limited appeal. Just my thoughts, hope it helps. Technically, the shot is sharp, the lighting is ok but looks a bit shadowed?. Happy shooting!

Great idea, but your lighting is way off.

Nice use of lighting, but I think this would benefit from a lower POV

nice idea for this tough contest. Perhaps a lower perspective might have increased the drama? I don't know without out trying it myself though :)

I like the idea...good representation of the theme. I would have liked more diffused and uniform lighting though... and perhaps use different countries...I'm not sure you get too much conflict between Alberta and Western U.S. :)

As a European, I think you should be more pleasant to your Northerly neighbours!!

could use better lighting. also, as in the other risk pic, perhaps if were set in the middle east...
