I got this leaf off the japanese maple in my yard that still had some leaves left. I had a different idea for it but changed my mind whenI saw it laying on the countertop. At a certain angle it looked like it was floating. Last night I came across the "sloppy" border discussion and had to try that as well.
What a great capture. It looks as if the leaf is floating on water. I love the reflection created and the varying tones of brown that surround the leaf. Neat border.
It's a good thing you tried the border. Along with the really sharp reflection, it gives the feeling the leaf is posed on top of ice. An all around wonderful job IMO.
This photo just sings. It looks like it's floating on air, then in a river, or perhaps someplace in between. Great job capturing movement that never existed. Not found of the sloppy border, at least for this picture.
I really like how the reflection is more detailed than the actual subject. The watery feel of the photo contrast well with the shape edges of the leaf.
this is brilliant .. a beautiful image .. very peaceful and tranquil .. love the tones .. personally tho i'm not that keen on the border .. to me the sharpness doesnt quite fit with the subdued image .. and of course that's just my opinion ..
i'v just had another look because i dont like to say anything negative and i'm liking the way it sort'v breaks up, which fits perfectly with the water look .. so i've changed my mind ... excellent border .. !!!!!!! .. lol .. :)
Well it all works, and how! I absolutely love the rippled counter top and the lighting. I saw that border thread but didn't read it. I'm going to now. In fact, into my favorites.
I very much like the composition. The color of my Japanese Maple leaves were a brighter red than this one this year. This one seems a bit too "dark" for me.
