post challenge:

I had a HARD time deciding if I wanted to use the border or not. I compared the with and the without versions closely and I felt that without the border, my eye went too much to the bright background. With the border, my eye went to the subject more easily, so that's why I decided to go with it in the end.

Lighting:
Daylight outside obviously, and inside there were the bathroom overhead lights and the flash directed right on me (I was holding the camera so it wasn't that far away).

Hey, look at your commenter avg. score. You found your audience! :) I have to admit this isn't to my taste especially, but as we've discussed before, it'd be a sad day if you stopped expressing your own vision in favor of DPC voters' desires.

I'm guessing Rapunzel's New Window is "Reality". This fairy tale could have many different endings, but I like how you have left it up to the viewer to choose one. A photo that encourages thinking is a pleasant rarity on DPC. Keep up the good work.

This shot has a wonderful feel of an illustration for a fairy tale book. I like the wistful look on your face and the angle of the shot. It really gives the feeling of Rapunzel being in a high tower. I'd like to know how you accomplished the lighting on this, with the scene outside the window as clear as the scene inside the window.

I gave this a 7. I think it conveys "waiting" very well, the waiting of maidens, which is so quickly glossed over in the stories, but can take years.

This was one of my 8s. A very intriguing and a bit sad/gray take on fairy tales, which don't always have happy endings. Very nice work.

The frame bothers me. Thats just my personal take, but it detracts from the image for me.

I like this alot - Rapunzel in suburbia. Really nice processing to highlight that gorgeous hair, too.

I'm quite drawn to the starkness of this image...no glitter glitter pink and pretty...Rapunzel's entered the real world.

I like the way you brought it to modern times, but it may hurt your score as alot of people think of fairy tales as "once upon a time". I think the angle you chose to shoot from could have been better, maybe bring the model down lower so the window's edge is more vertical. just a thought.
