 function of the (same as always;) layer here might be to reduce the vegetation to some even more vague decoration and so prevents distraction from that last light of the day rests on the bench pimps up its structure for a few secs
but the good thing is when u start lookin at the figure comes out of the bench it eventually end up smiling back ;)

(should have set better to a faster shutter and lower f.) for more accurate focus i realize

Beautiful tones. A little puzzle of an image, and even with your notes to inform us, it maintains an air of mystery.
