 This photo was taken as a result of an assignment given to me by Master Gordon who (in a very patient effort to steer me in new directions) suggested motion panning.

I didn't have a strong enough telephoto so I had to sneak up on this bird one morning very early in the lagoon. The weather was very cold and I had to wade into the water a bit...Brrrr. Finally, after a little coaxing, this bird took off in flight and here is the result.

I had alot of fun processing this photo and making him look "ghostly."

Many thanks to the commentors and a special thank you to Gordon for encouraging me and my fellow classmate dsterner to fly into a new realm and direction.

My deepest appreciation to e301 for this huge compliment . I was quite surprised!

If you'd have asked during the challenge, I'd have said this was xion's. Absolu-freakin'-lutely gorgeous. VERY nice work. Congrats on the excellent comments, particularly from that Ed guy.

Very cool photo; you've given us a bare minimum of information really, which is ideal, and have resisted the temptation to make the left half of frame completely black, which shows strong compositional sense. Possibly my winner in this challenge.
