Challenge: Free Study 2007-11 (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Nikon
Location: Melbourne Australia
Date: Nov 19, 2007
Aperture: F6.3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 0.769 seconds
Galleries: Cityscape, Panoramic
Date Uploaded: Nov 18, 2007

THE IMAGE: Spent the afternoon and into the evening on the Rialto Observation deck. Shot this handheld, leaning on the bar outdoors. I love the sky. Went back the next night when the weather was a bit cloudier.

I tossed around weather to go colour as I really liked the colour image, but there is something great about black and white. I am happy with the result.

EDIT: Levels, Noise reduction, dodge and burn, grayscale, duotone...other minor contrast adjustments...basic stuff really

PREDICTION: I seem to have really lost my MOJO after going overseas. I have 8 ribbons this year, 11 overall, and the next one seems so far away. Hopefully this image will get me back into some respectability. Maybe 6.4???

You caught that sliver of light in just the right place - adds the extra something to this to make it that much more than just a good observation shot. Lovely conversion!

Hang in there Enzo. I had a 6 month stretch earlier this year without a ribbon. It seemed like I would NEVER ribbon again. I know exactly how you feel, but I know you got it in you. This shot, BTW, is just great!

Nice application of high contrast b/w. The tall building almost looks like it has ruler marks on it. This is one of those shots that could have really benefitted from larger entry size limits.

what a cool perspective, I wonder how color looks to see all the different colors of light in the city, I like how you can make som many details in the image.

Great night capture, well exposed and composed. I especially like the soft, velvet texture of the clouds
