After 30+ years we had the final night of spca housie tonight. I've been organising it for the last 15 of those years ..... had 6 nights off in that time.

The number of people coming has gradually dwindled from over 150 to sometimes as few as 20. Many of the original regulars are now too old to come (or gone), money's tight, and housie's not that popular any more. The pokie machines are way more fun and there are more exciting ways to gamble. For us (spca) there are more effective ways to raise funds.

In a way I'm sad, I've met a lot of amazing people ......but mostly it's a relief. It was time.

The hall. Edna, who makes the most delicious mousetraps, in the kitchen .... overlayed with a kingfisher sitting in a tree outside the hall. Doesn't make sense, but I just needed to play........

I like you play, as it adds another demesion to the image.
It has an emotive feeling as well, and I also like the story behind the image..... You deserve to be congratulated for all the wonderfull effort you have put into this venture to raise funds..... Well done girl.....

The symbolism - wow Sue. Your photos tell a story and knowing the real one, makes it that much more special.

Effectively melancholy in how she's fading away. Fits your story.

Thanks for the interesting story everything you said is quite true! I quite like the juxtaposition between the outside and inside on this,my guess is the kingfisher image would be quite a powerful image on its own
