Shot on macro mode by kitchen windowlight after running the apple under the kitchen faucet for a couple of seconds. Set camera to daylight lighting and macro mode, used tripod. I increased the contrast using Photoshop and used the healing brush to get rid of some blemished on the apple. Unsharp mask after resizing for dpchallenge.

Think this might have worked better without the hot spots but as they are there, then perhaps losing some of the image might give a more extraordinary look. you might have considered a CW rotation and cropping from the top most drops down. It might be more abstract that way but the idea that it is an apple is too evident in the image as it is.
