This could be better, but I wanted to get something entered so here goes!

Wow... top Ten?!? I'm certainly happy given the quality of the images in this challenge. I agree with all the negative comments but since it was a last minute entry, I didn't spend as much time editing as I would've liked.

Here's a "warmer" version.

I dont find this disturbing inthe least! This photo makes me think of a baby still in the womb and I like the blue tones better than the sepia. Had I seen this during voting i wouldve given it a 10 hands down! Very thoughtful and creative photo.

I'm confused.. This type of shot is huge right now with many many many new parents, including myself.. We tried to get this shot with my son, but he wasn't having it.. He kept moving, so it didn't work out.. I've never seen a comment like the ones you got regarding it being disturbing especially when talking about an innocent sweet picture of a baby.. Is it because it's squished together?? Unless they know a different way to make babys, this is how they form in the womb.. It's actually a comforting feeling for them to be held tightly together.. At least, for the baby in my tummy, I'm sure this is almost an exact immulation of the position he's in right this very second.. Wait, I take that back, the baby in the picture actually has more room..lol

Beautiful shot and I can't wait for my son to be born so I can try again and get this myself !!!

I think the fact that it's slighty disturbing makes it... art. After all, art doesn't need to be nice and pretty and happy all the time. It just needs to make you feel something.

But I don't think it's disturbing at all. You know that no harm was done to the baby! I think it gives a sense of security, just like the name. I love it. Had I had time to see it during the challenge it would've gotten an 8, 9 had more editing been done. I love this.

Shoulda been the blue. I have to admit, I'm not familiar with the photog whose style was mentioned as emulated...but I love this shot, Lee.

This is really an amazing shot. He (that is, if he is a he ;-) looks to me like he's floating down from heaven. Congrats on top 10.

I don't think it looks like bag at all... you can see the texture of the fabric. And the colors are perfect - they give an atmosphere of 'security' perfectly. Beautiful shot! :)

Is it dead?
Edit: I know this is a rude and crude comment; also that every care was taken with the infant, and that slings have been the carrier of choice ever since the stork. Perhaps it is a tribute to your skill that I was so viscerally affected, and also a recognition, I believe, of the power of an image. It was the bunching towards being closed at the top that reminded me of the way turkeys are packaged, and all at once the baby became a thing, and then, for me, a line was crossed.

at first this looks like DPC kitsch, but when you think about it a few seconds, it actually becomes quite disturbing.

ribbon pick from me - simple and powerful - excellent interpretation of the theme

I can't get beyond my chilling first thought of an infant in a plastic bag! Maybe if I come back later. 5 for now.

i wasnt going to comment on this one but here it is again. when i first saw this in the thumbs it looked like the baby was in a bag. i dont like the idea of a baby wrapped up like this. creeps me out. i'm not voting on it.

The lighting is nice in this shot but i cannot get past the fact that it appears like a baby in a plastic grocery bag. I know that was probably not your intention but this picture seems disturbing to me.

I hope the baby didn't end up at the bottom of the canal!! Seriously though, good focus and composition. Could have pushed the deeper tones to give more constrast.

creative idea, good tones, good lighting, though lacking a bit of contrast (at least for my taste). Moiré in center is a bit distracting.

@ la Anne Geddes :) It's pretty good, except that to my eyes, the fabric holding the baby is just a bit too prominent, and the light maybe just a tad too bright.

Was it Anne Geddes that started this idea? I think with the cool tones, it has a kind of sinister feel, not warm and fuzzy. I would like it much better with a sepia, or gray/brown duotone.
