You have done a great job the overlay works well but you have left the lovely lighting on the boys face ;)This is one of your best yet ;)

Really nice tones on this! I might also be inclined to crop in a bit on the left, but not too much since the presence of the torah is so central to the image. I'm assuming that this is the boy's bar mitzvah...You've captured a moment that they'll treasure, I'm sure. |

Many many thanks to you three for your comments. I'm making a series of these images a gift, so I appreciate any comment. To answer Roz - the horizontal stripes are the Torah, the Jewish holy book, from which the child is reading. I agree with your assessment, and will try to crop in closer (without losing the Torah completely) in the final image. |

I agree with Jutilda that this is nicely done. The texture gives it a subtle but special quality and none of the processing is overdone to spoil the moment. |

I like it very much. It's subtle and not overly done. It suits the shot and the mood of it perfectly. |

i dont usually like to say anything negative about other ppl's work coz i'm so aware its just my opinion .. but seeing you asked and i'm hoping you really want the feedback, then i'll ask wot the horizontal bars are ?? ..
if they are an integral part of the image and important for the ppl to see then i'll say great !! .. but if they're not, then i feel they detract from the portrait ..
the young man there is a wonderful subject, his beautiful and concentrated expression .. i love your process with the desat and the overlay .. so i'd be tempted to crop it heaps to bring him closer and make him grab the attention .. :):)
other ppl might totally disagree and say the horizontal thingos take your eye to him .. but when you have an image like this it can just come down to personal opinion .. not good or bad ..
good luck with this .. its an excellent and emotive photograph to work on .. :) |
