Back lit with a pencil torch. Macro filter. Slight levels and sharpening in Photoshop. Yes, this is a leaf from a rose I gave to my wife on St. Valentine's day.

Texture - yes , but some of the highlights look over burnt.. I like the gradient of light across the picture to the top left.

Very nice composition of the leaf. Very lucky to have great lighting bringing out the transparency of the subject. It really makes you feel the textures of the veins. Currently the intricate framing distract from the composition of the frame. It's fighting for attention with the shot itself.

Interresting subject for the texture challenge but contrast is too high. I would prefer a most natural presentation.

slightly out of focus on the tip of the leaf. otherwise, a very nice image with great texture.

too bright at the tip, other than that I think the over-the-top contrast is great

i like the backlight onto the leaf, brings out the pattern, and texture. Would be better if the background was black not grey, and if the tip wasn't blown out.

Nice composition, sweet negative space, I'm not sure I like the border.

Texture to me calls out to "touch me". Although this is a good photo, it doesn't convey texture as well as others. NIce capturing of the leaf veins.

I like the idea of a backlit leaf, but just didn't work for me.

The blurred tip of the leaf hurts this otherwise crisp, bright shot.

Neat composition, and good colour and detail. Little real sense of texture I fear, more of patterning, but you're not the only one to confuse the two.

way to sharp with harsh light.

+ The composition is very good with a nice balance between negative and positive space. Your border isn't distracting and even brings more appeal to the photo.
- The leaf looks fake; too much sharpening or use of levels or curves?

interesting subject like how the leaf appears to be translucent. loses the feel of it in the tip of the leaf, though

Nicely backlit subject shows form and texture well. Overexposed hotspots at the tip of leaf are distracting though.

I see the texture, but the subject and composition just don't hold my interest.

I'm not sure if it is over sharpening or too much contrast that has destroyed this photo. With a more limited amount of which ever it was, use of a diffuser to reduce the harsh glare on the leaf tip, and a levels adjustment to make the background black this would be very nice.

Might have worked better lit from abve, it's a bit uneven but otherwise symetrical
