I was on an evening walk with my wife at Ecola State Park, just below the bluffs, when we spotted this photographer down by the rocks with the big waves crashing. He took a few trips to the edge to experience the surge of the crashing waves against the 20 foot cliff he was standing on, before getting totally drenched. I caught him on the second attempt. I had just seen this lovely French film, "L'Equipier" about a Breton Lighthouse Keeper, and decided to try my fate with the DPC voters. Thanks for the votes, even you who "took the risk" that I actually was matching this photo to an actual scene from a movie you've never seen. See the film and see how powerfully this entry tells the scene from that French 2004 movie.

WOW, very under rated. This was one of my 10's. I think more contrast in the waves would have helped your score, but I enjoyed the dynamics of the photo, even though I do not think it has been processed to its full, optimal potential. Great image and I'm happy to have seen it.

I have no idea what the movie looks like but this is a beautiful picture and gets a 10 from me.

I enjoy the image overall, however being something that isn't well known if known at all outside of France, is a risk.

It's so hard to vote on a film I have never heard of, so I'll abstain (as I'm afraid many will).

aside from the topic of the challenge, this shot is absolutely beautiful. It screams I AM MAN, or STRENGTH. I have not seen this movie, but it makes me want to see it. Stunning. 9

Since I don't have an personal reference on this film I guess I have to take your word for it. Nice composition.

I've never seen the movie, but this is an outstanding shot. I love how you capture the subject's triumphant reaction at the point of the splash.
