A low powered lamp was diffused and placed very close to the setup and created the shadows as you see. I did boost the contrast and apply noise reduction to smooth the paper texture. The shot was completely desaturated and then some slight sephia and/or cooling filter was applied. And sharpened, of course. The top left area was the trouble spot of the shot in my mind as well (Eyewave).

I wish I could control lighting this well. Excellently done. Are the shadow gradients more a product of the lighting or PP technique?

interesting concept! very good lighting and b/w-tones. dark paper at top left is slightly distracting and make the composition a bit unbalanced, had cropped upper 10% off
