 Sunset pictures never do well around here, so I don't have great hopes for this image, but I like it so what the heck, I'll give it a shot.

I could have also titled this: The Beginning of the End of the Continent!

Taken from the deck of the ferry on the San Francisco to Vallejo run at 6:09 p.m. Nice way to commute, eh? Had my camera with me, because I was shooting for the ground up challenge that day, so went out and grabbed some shots of Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin headlands. I figured this shot would be pretty recognizable as the Golden Gate Bridge, from a slightly different perspective than it is normally seen. Shot this at 78mm, just before the boat was about even with Angel Island.

This shot was underexposed a couple stops to avoid totally blowing the sun, and the original picture had a golden brown cast to it. I cranked the saturation up and backed off the hue a bit to bring out the reddish color.

lol well I'd say your sunset picture did pretty well! Love the rich orange-red sky and how you carried that tone in the water as well. A very striking photo...
