 I cheated on today's entry. I took a picture from the walkabout I participated in this last weekend and used it for today. I had intentions of using this flower for something else but it didn't work out. I played around and what you see is what I came up with. I like it but don't like it all at the same time. I think the leaf is probably the thing I dislike the most about it.

I promise tomorrow I will actually shoot for the day and not cheat again! ;o)

Nice! I really like to see flower shots in b&w...allows you to focus in on the beautiful form.

This is wonderful! I love how everything is flowing in the same direction; don't mind the big leaf at all, but would look beautiful without it as well; love seeing the back of the flower all lit up against the black!

love the black and white treatment .. very contrasty & dramatic .. shhhhhhhh dont tell anyone but i posted a shot i took the day before yesterday !!...:)

Yep, dramatic was the first thing that popped into my head as well. I really like it. I love how the flower pops against the dark sky. I agree with you about the leaf. It would have been intersting to see the stem flow all the way down and out of the frame, but then again it could've just got lost in the grass behind it so it's a tough call because the leaf itself has some very interesting textures to it.

Hey. ..if you can have photos this cool. . .who cares if you shot it last week or whenever! I haven't looked thru the walkabout challenge so I would have missed it, and I LOVE IT! It's so dramatic. Was this taken at night? What perfect, stunning black and white tones!
