We had a lot of storms come through tonight and it was to be the big night for lightning pictures. It wasn't. Most of the lighting was far away and the few shots of an actual lightning bolt were really grainy, lightning not where I want it, or had some other problem. But it was warm and windy out and it's always fun to watch storms come through.

So I spent a lot of time here creating HDR/tonemapping and trying different things to get a decent picture and it's not happening.

This shot was one of 3 that I bracketed during the storm and of course I didn't catch any lightning. I totally reversed directions on my editing and used basic editing on this one.

I really didn't want to submit yet another lighthouse shot but it's the best thing I shot today.

Auuuuugh. . .are you kidding me??? I think we should all have at least one of these lighthouses a day so we would never ever cease to be awed and inspired! I just can't get over how beautiful this scene is!! I would never get tired of seeing stunning pictures of lighthouses -- I just wish I could go down to our coast and get one for myself. . .but the Texas coast. . .bleh. . .wouldn't look this beautiful anyway! The water would be choppy green with a touch of mud, and there'd most likely be junk and "stuff" cluttering up the lighthouse area. . . so keep posting yours, okay?

Cheating. Totally cheating. There's water. There's COLOR! Cheating, I tell ya.... I really like the basic edit of this alot. The whole HDR and tonemapping thing creates gorgeous stuff, yes, but there's a lot to be said for the way things really are, you know? Love the softness of the water and the glow/star of the beacon. A very pleasing and pleasant shot.

WOW! I wish I could get a lighthouse shot this cool. We have lighthouses around here but not out on a pier like that. Wonderful shot.

Well, I don't know what you're complaining about. This is utterly stunning. Beautifully soft and pastellish. The light is amazing.

I really like it that the areas of color are so defined. It reminds me of a poster. Nice work.
