this is a wood beetle, i think, that i found on the firetrail and immediately thought of the macro challenge .. so i took some photographs where he was on the firetrail and brought him home .. i put him in a plastic bowl with a bit'v water with another plastic bowl on top with a small gap for air .. when i went back later he was gone .. so i decided to use something else for the challenge coz i wasnt happy with the photographs i took on the firetrail .. this is one of them .. anyway later on last night i found him crawling around the kitchen .. i put him outside coz i thought he might'v been getting hungry .. i dont know wot they eat ..

Great job focusing in on the bugger. Your processing gives this image a slightly sinister quality. Delightfully creepy!

Excellent macro, Roz. I predict, if you submit something of this quality to the macro challenge, you'll win a ribbon.

This beetle looks like he has a plan - which is to EAT ME!!! LOLOL!

Love the DOF and the detail in the feelers and the dirt. Totally awesome!!

Eeeeeeeeeeee. . . . .he is skeeery looking. What a perspective! I think this would have also been great in the Point of View challenge, don't you?

Wow, you made it looks so rich with those background colors. You truly are awesome Roz!

I also adore the way you write with your "wot's" and 'v's :) I would love to listen to you talk. Aussie's talk so awesome!

Creepy animal when you see it this way. Nice light (as always).

P.S. Aren't you a little early with day 14?

Wood, maybe? I dunno. He certainly has a presence - aided by your great dof. Unfortunately he's not very colorful, so you probably made the right decision not to use it for the challenge.

Think they raid the fridge in the middle of the night Roz, probably why he was crawling round the kitchen :P What an awesome shot!

I think it's a great shot.
It may also be a type of longorn beetle.
