i went for a walk on the firetrail this morning with katee and i was thinking of the macro challenge .. there were some unusual bees flying around this small purple flower .. these bees probably measure about 7mm .. they may not actually be bees tho ..
anyway it was getting hot and i lost interest before i could get anything close enough for a macro challenge, well as i understand macro that is ?? .. these bees move a lot quicker and stay a much shorter time on a flower than the other bees i've photographed that feature in my portfolio ..
they are quite different .. this is the sort i'm talking about ..

and this is also from this morning ... a very small insect that is possible a bee ..

The detail is - wow. Love the colors here, too - like in the creature photo. I'm usually not into bug shots, but you make them look so fairy-tale-like and it's easy on the eyes and the gag reflex. That bush I keep on photographing... it's full of bees. They are very very busy, though. Not a one would hold still long enough for me to focus on it to take a shot. Too bad - I've tried. Bees don't gross me out so much and I'm not afraid of them. In fact, a few times a year I'll get a small swarm coming into my apartment. The buzz around all confused. Then they fly up to the skylight - to the light! To the light! There they bang themselves silly against the glass and die. Afterwards I have bee corpses all over my carpet. I really didn't intend to write such a tome, but I seem to be on a roll... :oD
