This is me and our dog Louis. He was very happy to help me go through the garbage. I had so many ideas for this challenge, the problem was getting the time to shoot and when I finally had the time everybody I had recruted to help me was gone, so I had to switch gears and think of something I could pull off by myself. Then this idea came to me and Louis and I were off to the nearest alley to do the set up.

I gathered all the garbage from home. The bag is full of news paper and some of our recyclying. I picked up some of the dogs toys and one of my son Isaacs' bears as well as the rest of the things I thought I would need to be as real as I could. I brought along some steamed rice, spaghetti in sauce and some apple peels.

I have seen lots of homeless people and have seen some of the stuff they carry with them so I tried to bring some things to add effect. I brought the dog because I thought he would have fun eating from the garbage with me. He took to it like flies on stink. (so to speak)

There was so much more involved in the set up but I should put the edit info before I forget.

strong work! although I see him as being sick (vomiting?), the image is beautiful & graphic enough the viewer can take it to any level of imagination or opinion...

It defifnitely conveys the loneliness of street life, and I also get the need for companionship..at every level; and the wonderful place animals have in that role with us humans

lovely work

You did such a great job with this street cnadid, so emotive.
I like it in black and white, as it adds to the effect emotionally, and the drama.....

??? the angle on the photo leaves me with more questions than answers. I think though I am not sure he is looking in a trash bag there for food. But the angle doesn't allow me to fully see that. In fact this angle almost looks as if he is bringing the dog in close and that is a bit scary because of the title. I must say if you don't want to imply that he is going to eat the dog a different angle might be good. Additionally the missing dog poster confuses me as well. I don't see a reason for it.

Nice B/W image. The graffiti and dog helped it a lot.
It the poster on the wall in the upper left the same dog tat is in the photo?

Interesting shot. I'm a bit disappointed with the title! The most obvious sign of 'searching' here is the 'missing' poster top left combined with the 'found' dog bottom right.

Great shot. I always feel rather uncomfortable taking those types of shots.

Nice touch with the missing poster. I'd like to see someones face or atleast the bag that's hiding behind the subject, as it is there's not much to look at other than his side.

Pretty grim, but it does make it's point quite clearly. A very stark image.

Another one of my favorites in the challenge, great feeling of searching in this photo. The only thing I am slightly confused about is the missing dog poster. It appears to be a fake with a 555 number (can not quite read it) and also the same dog that is in the picture. I would like to think it is another reference to 'searching'
