I would have probably kicked this pinecone,it looks just like a pinecone or a leaf,,,,,good eye!

8" ?!!! Wow, now that's a bird with confidence in it's camouflage! It's called a "Poor-will"? Not familiar with this bird and would like to look it up.

I was glad to be able to see and shoot this with my old Coolpix, since my D70 is out of service. This is a once in a lifetime shot and will be published somewhere.

You've got quite an eye to spot this little guy hiding in the grass. This Nighthawk blends so well with the surroundings that it's difficult to focus on him; but I guess that's the point in the animal kingdom.
