Challenge: Letting Go (Basic Editing I)

I really wanted one of my husband and little boy in the picture, insinuating that a young mother had died. I was going to title it "Letting Go of the Past, Hoping in the Future." However, my little boy had on a Winnie the Pooh hat that made it look, well funny. That, and he kept smiling at me! So, I had to go with my husband solo.

Post processing -- cropped, used color balance to get a bw, then colorized it with slight saturation of red.

The white dots are snowflakes.

nice sentiment...I might have had him at a grave rather than behind one...but nicely done

Nice concept.

Technically sound and sharp. Also a good direct correlation to the title. I might've prefered b&w, but that's all it is... a preference.

you can almost feel his pain

Nice, I like it alot, good luck!

Nice pic. More contrast and shorter DOF would put this near the top..... Very good composition.

Nice shot. I thought about doing something like this but for some reason didn't. I think it would have helped if the subject was actually in front of a stone.

Now I have a dilemma: this is such a ceareful shot - certainly in its post work. But I don't find it terribly emotive, and it seems (partly from the title) to be so deliberately pulling at the heart strings. It is, at least, a touch more restrained than some of the 'despairing' shots. Guess i'll have to come back to it.

Nice shot, I wanted to do the same, but couldn't find the chance. Nice use of B&W and the mood is superb.

woah! Very very nice. Only one sugestion, i would have opened up the aperature and focused on the rose and have the kid slightly out of focus. But still very good! 8

Good composition, especially choosing a relatively young model for the shot. Some artifacts on the jeans hurt a little.

Very nice sharpness and toning, and I like the contrast the jacket provides against the background.

at first i was like, i wish it was from the other side so i could see his expression..but then i thought that it was great this made me want to see more..so job well done.
