what a fantastic atmospheric photograph .. wonderful in b&w ...
i'm looking at your processing and i cant see where you've done the b&w conversion .. did you do it in your RAW program? ..
when we first started the last b&w side challenge in march i was converting to b&w in my RAW program ... then i got comments from a couple of ppl (ppl who do really excellent work by the way), who suggested that i do the conversion to b&w in photoshop rather than my RAW program ... if your background layer is colour in photoshop you can get so much more variation in tones and everything when you convert it b&w ... i use an adjustment layer in selective colour a lot now after converting to b&w (you can do amazing things with the individual colours that you wouldnt'v been able to do if it was already b&w) but to have any effect it has to be underneath the b&w adjustment layer (i have CS3 and my b&w conversion is an adjustment layer too) ... have a go .. and let me know wot you reckon .. :)

It seems to happen only when using the burn tool, and then only in the sky.

Wow! This is one of these shots that are so dramatic, so intense but so simple in its complexity that you almost feel like you are there. I can feel the storm coming and smell it! Great shot!

Nice composition and great tones. I love the light foreground contrasting with the darker horizon and sky.

This is really nice!! The composition works great, I like the slight softness of the tree, looks like the leaves were in a slight breeze.

The composition works so well in b/w because of great balance throughout the photo. The lone tree has great contrast as well as the rocks in the foreground because of the great lighting on the grass. Also the horizon gently sloping down in the foreground and up in the background works so well. Ver good landscape composition!

Very interesting shot. It feels a bit too dark, but I'm not sure it would be better lighter.

Really nice B&W landscape shot. Personally I think landscapes are the hardest to do in B&W because the colors tend to blend together. This one has nice contrasting colors that make everything stand out.
