 Dropped my daughter off at college today (Sept. 22) ... first one to leave the nest. She's gonna do great ... but was very nervous on her first day all alone in a great big place, or so it seems. I think this shot, grabbed quickly as I was walking along next to her, captures that feeling. Not technically perfect by any means, but will be one of my favorites for a long time.

I actually like the color version better, but this is a BW challenge!

It definitely captures the mood and I think bw really adds to that "all by myself" feeling.

Nice shot, It does capture that mood of feeling sort of alone, like a goldfish in a new and much larger bowl, on that first day.

Nice capture indeed. I think the background of the hill emphasizes the "climb" she has ahead of her. Haven't experienced this yet, but oldest is 18 and graduates next spring, so it is coming (assuming of course that he doesn't decide to live at home, or drop out of life so he can play his music!)
