GPW Wrestling is the way forward. This is one of their star performers and was taken after a heavy bout of training.

I wanted to portray the other side of sports that you don't see on tv or the field- the backstage stuff, the dressing room talks, the rejection, the elation and of course, the reflecting.

Cropped a little bit, messed about with the exposure, bit of shados/highlights, contrast, curves, levels and a high-pass filter on soft light.

I have a feeling this will be about 6.000 like my entries usually are but I love it, the guy in the picture loves it and I'm proud of it- that's the main thing.

I really like the contrast in this. I'm always afraid to go this dark, so many details are lost but it's a great effect. I'm chicken :)

Very well composed (the bit of knee missing doesnt take away from the image). The right side of the shot fading into the almost complete blackness on the left works very well with his expression in setting the mood. The only thing I felt was missing was some kind of hand guards/wraps/gloves since, to me anyway, it looks like he is reflecting on a lost fight. Other than that this is one of my top picks for the challenge

love the cinematic sentimentality. Scorsese would like this.

awesome textures and subject. Must have been difficult lighting but you dealt with it very well

An interesting shot. To be nit picky I would like to have seen the crop slightly different, include the full knee and crop out that hose? on the left hand side. Well Done.

very moody and atmospheric.

I like the stark simplicity of this man in his environment, no frills , no glitz, just a guy training.

Portrait is very nice, could've used a bit more space on the right knee.
Besides that, very nice.

I like the mood of this shot, though I wish the shadows werent as harsh as they are especially on him. He is also a bit too far right and having him cropped is a bit odd. All that said I gave this a 7.

Great lighting...especially with contrasty lighting on the right.

Very nice shot! I do wish there was a little more space on the right so that his knee wasn't cut off though. Good composition and tonal values. Good luck in the challenge.

Nice contrast. The positioning of the guy might be too far to the right.

I like the editing and conversion on this. Nice composition, with leading lines to the boxer.

WOW!!! great composition and light. The hint of reddish purple in the duotone adds an unexpected bit of color. Well done.

Well, I got killed for an unorthodox crop in an earlier challenge...but I like unorthodox crops.
