I hate the beach. I made a special trip there specifically to get this shot. I also ransacked my mother's, grandmother's, and my own jewellery boxes looking for big chunky stones and pearls. The rest of the trunk is full of those chocolate coins. At least I get a yummy snack no matter how this picture scores :P.

Crop, straighten horizon, saturation, color balance, unsharp mask, and save for web.

the treasure chest is WAY too clean to be a pirate chest!

Tighter cropping would have made this a stronger image.

Nice idea. The bright sunlight hurts you here. It put the booty in too much light, and the inside of the lid in blackness. A more evenly lit scene would have worked better - perhaps shading the chest with shadows of pirates...

excellent idea. not a fan of exposure. i feel the light is too "harsh". warm evening or morning light would have helped you bring out the "gold" color and preciousness of your subject. also the dof is way more than required (P&S camera, i presume)...still 7 for going an extra mile to setup the shot and idea.

I like the lighting. It's harsh but it makes the scene more believable to me.

Only crit here would be the shaddow of the chest a little too semetrical with the chest then running off the shot.. would have maybe angled a litte more so that the shadow skews and not cut off.
