Taken at the zoo. Soft focus achieved with gaussian blur and fade. I couldn't find my Cokin filter.

The "message" the soft focus is meant to convey is the idealization we have in symbols and icons. When we conjure up thoughts of the bald eagle, we tend to have idealized images of a majestic bird soaring in the wilds of Alaska. The soft focus helps our minds to get there.

POST: I am sooo King of Fourth!

Attractive photo, although I'm not sure the bald eagle is soft and fuzzy in the classical icon. If anything, this picture could be a sort of political commentary or iconoclast imagery. I just don't really see that this photo embraces the sharp, powerful image of an eagle.

This is beautiful, Jason. You did an awesome job of getting all the detail in the white feathers. Sometime, I'd be interested in knowing what sort of post processing you do on your images. I'm sure you have enough spare time to do a 'learning thread', right? Ü
Nice job, and congrats on yet another ribbon!!

very nice. Love the way this is framed and love the background tones. The work to draw your eye to the texture of the feathers. This is very well done.

Great pose and great photo. I tend to lean towards hard focus for bald eagle photos, but this is very nice and may persuade me otherwise. Well done!
