No flash used. Low ISO. Regular indoor lighting used, I put on my high hat lights, about 3 rows full for a nice strong light source. I caught him while he stood still for a split second, I fed Conan a nice steak dinner and had him run around a little to keep him still for this portrait. Negative space does did not create a mood like I thought it would here.

It looked interesting on the thumbnail, but was a surprise when I opened it -- did expect it to be this wonderful -- made me grin!

this is just beautiful .. the photograph and your subject .. i'm guessing by the little guy's name that he's gonna end up being a very large dog? .. altho of course you could be naming him that so he'll be a lot bigger and tougher than his size .. i've just looked at him a bit more and i'm thinking he could be part chihuahua?? .. if he is then he wont be very large after all !! ..
we are totally in love with our little miniature fox terrier (the breed is from foxy and chihuaua) she will never grow to more than 5+kg's, hopefully !! .. altho she's beginning to get a bit'v a chunky tummy going on lately .. think i'll just have to give her more walks on the firetrail .. it wont do me any harm either .. !!
thank you for your comments .. did i leave a nice comment on something of yours being voted on right now? .. i hope so, coz having seen your work i'm extremely impressed .. your overall average in no way prepared me for your talent .. :)

Then light is quite good though the patterns on the carpet takes away a it perhaps some burning can get rid if them.. This could easily be mistaken for a high end studio shot even without the fancy lighting..
