Added post challenge:

I've been trying to convey different ideas with my images, rather than just presenting "pretty pictures", even where the image seems straight forward (such as this one). Here, the size of the bird was meant to reflect its speed (Falcons are very, very fast), it's relative insignificance in the open sky when you see it with the naked eye, and the precision of its movement (all of which relate to its wings, the challenge theme).

I couldn't present that message if I had increased its size in the frame, or if I had used a technique like motion blur, and I thought clouds in the background detracted from the message as well. So, smallish presentation against a pure blue background. I wanted fast and lonely in the sky; what it seems I presented was "photographer too far away from the subject."

This is such a nice clear shot of the falcon, I would like to see more of the bird and less of the sky. I'm impressed with the detail you were able to capture at that distance.

Nicely captured and good detail considering the distance. Would have been better slightly bigger in the frame though. I like the composition and the space you have left in front of the Falcon.

Nice catch - but I wouldn't have minded a little less empty space...

I find that there is too much negative space in the photo, perhaps a tighter crop.

To much empty space. I would have cropped it by 2/3 and rotated it so the Falcon was soaring upwards.

would've like it to be a bit closer
