Lame, dq'd!
08/31/2007 02:52:39 PM
Oh, no! Did you have multiple image layers mixed using blending modes other than normal?

Don't get discouraged by the DQ. It's still a fantastic image, and you're not the first to trip on the rules.

I look forward to lots more good stuff!

hi all thank you for your kind comments, and for those who tried to push this for blue ribbon. There's always next time. i have to say, after getting this 4th, i truly appreciate the effort and creativity that people put in to meet these challenges theme and deadlines. I have so many nice photos that have won awards in my country and on the international stage, but of course i cant submit them. Which is why the people who have won ribbons and top 10-20, and those who will do in the future, i take my hat of for all of you.

This photo shoot was actually of a wedding client of mine who was kind enough to volunteer to be my model. i cant wait for their weddings to come because i have so many great ideas for their days. their pictures will be stunning.

processing is just raw conversion, channel mixing and lots of curves and colour balance. i think in all there are around 15 layers.

you will see another picture of him in the free challenge.

I can't believe this didn't ribbon. Two #@$%ing landscapes shoe-horned into 1st and 2nd place and this gets robbed.

The composition and light here really drive the eye toward the cross. Very, very nice! In fact, it's the only 10 I've given out so far. If anyone gives you grief for using such a strongly Christian theme, tell 'em I'm Jewish and I can still appreciate the meaning of such an image. :)

Don't normally care for cross jewelry, but the contrast here is quite nice.. One of the tops this round.

great use of DOF to create the right effect.

Wow. That's....wow. amen. i'm pushing for a blue for this.

I see, I mean I think that the person has a strong character, but I'm not sure about this, although tattoos and the dirty fingers tell me so, but anyhow, this makes the small cross bigger, because he's standing behind it. Good.

Superb!

Great photograph. Even a tighter crop on just the hands would have been good.
08/24/2007 09:25:54 AM
great lighting and b and w treatment...should ribbon 9
08/23/2007 07:02:35 PM
excellent tones and lighting - very dramatic image

Very strong photo, the rings are a bit distracting however.

Beautiful.

This is by far the best Christian oriented image in the challenge. Great detail, dof works well, color tone is perfect for the moody shadows. Probably my top pick for the challenge. Bumping up!
08/22/2007 02:35:58 AM
I think a tighter view of the hands (or more of the face) would have improved the composition of this pic. The lighting is great though.

Only good shot in the challenge. Well, besides my own of course.
