THE IMAGE: A dawn shoot at Williamstown. I love most of the images I took in the 45 minutes till the sun came out. This is one of them. Used a tripod which is not a common thing for me. I don't know how the boat is so sharp at 1/8 second. He was just pulling up to the pier I was standing on.

THE EDIT: Lots of layers and masking to bring out colours that were in the sky and water, smoothness from noise reduction...some dodging and burning.

THE PREDICTION: I feel this will be a tough challenge so if I can land in the top 50 I will be happy. 6.5? Some will criticise the saturation, but I only tweaked what was already there. The dawn sky was magnificent

POST: You know, most of the comments were about the skewed horizon. I couldn't see it. It is probably there by 2 pixels. I think it's just the fact that it was at 10mm and looked that way.

Thanks everyone for the great comments and votes.

Critique Club feedback:

Wonderful lighting and great capture of the reflections of the ships. Regarding the horizon tilt comments from the Flat Earth Society - what is tremendously reinforcing that perception is the tile of all the masts. Many vertical lines tilted to the right - the eye is tricked.

I have no other meaningful commentary. This is a very beautiful image and it score quite well as you would expect.

Very nicely done.

You certainly have a way with not only people but places. Excellent shot, Enzo. So well deserved. Congrats.

I almost commented on this during the challenge. The light on the water and the reflections are most beautiful.

Very nice shot. Great colours and I love the yachts picked out against the dark water.

In terms of possible improvements - the horizon doesn't quite look straight to me, and I think if you had put a very fine white line inside your frame it would have helped seperate the frame from the picture, especially at the bottom. The frame is only personal taste though :- )

Still a very nice shot. Well done.

back to bump : )

A shame you cut off the incoming boats mast, a 7 nonetheless! Good luck!

Poster pretty!
I like the way the water shows movement aside of the solo boat! Could do without the border on top/bottom, IMHO *8*

Great contrast for light and dark. Love the highlights on the trails in the water.

God composition - the foreground boat is essential, in my opinion. And great timing with the sky.

This is beautiful. Great lines everywhere. I love that all of the masts slope away in the same direction and then you have the bow waves moving through the surface of the water. Nice colours throughout the sky and good work in maintaining the reflections of the sky in the main subject yacht. 10

The horizon line is not leveled...

very cool lighting here - the composition is great but the horizon seems skewed in an odd way - leaning down to the right?

Absolutely stunning. Perfect rich tones, reflection, focus and composition. I like the pop of blue from the boat on the left. 8

The skewed horizon is not working for me here. There are so many strong verticals also skewed that it just doesn't feel right to me. Beautifullight & processing.

why not correct the tilted horizon? besides that a very nice shot, border fits well

Maybe it's just an illusion, but your horizon looks slightly skewed here? Anyway, lovely lighting and nice composition.
