focus is good, colors are good.

the composition is one of a photographer trying to get the subject into frame. in other words, not particularly inspired, but serviceable. The bird is in an interesting position. I get a sense of struggle. beyond that, it is what it is: a bird taking off from a pier. to improve, I would suggest seeking out more complex stories or mysteries. don't answer all the questions the photograph asks.

Wonderful picture with nice detail in the white feathers. The sky is a great contrast. I know this type of photo is really difficult to plan but considering your background is so clear and therefore easy to work with, what about cutting out the slice of sky between the bird and the wooden perch to narrow the distance between them and then extending the sky in front of the bird to give it more space to fly into. If you try an edit like this, I would love to see it!

I like that you've chosen to leave just a bit of the wood where he was taking off from. Makes it more of a story of an event instead of just a bird flying in mid air, yet it's subtle and doesn't detract from the main focus. Very nicely done!

Oh my, what a beautiful picture and such an unusual view of this great bird. I would have cropped out the lower left hand structure but that is my opionion. Great work.

Lovely color & contrast; sharp, clean image. Leaving a hint of the roost is a nice touch as well.

This is really lovely. Perfectly lit and focused. I like that you left a touch of the pier in the lower left so that the overall line of the shot is horizontal. Nice one! Bumping up.
