Actually, it's just the first day of the semester, and I'm taking all of six units, three of which are in a once-a-month mostly-online class, but whoo boy am I glad to have school going again. Just like when I was a kid, at the beginning, summer is a welcome relief, but by the end of it I'm kind of wishing for a bit of a routine.
So. First day of school checklist:
Books: Check.
Backpack: Check (it's a camera bag)
New outfit: Check
School bus: Um, 1972 Dodge Dart?
Ginormous zit on face: CHECK. I mean, what's the first day of school without that, right? Shuddery horrific junior-high flashbacks start... NOW.
Nerdy eyeglasses: Check.
Out-of-focus, blurry snapshot: Definitely check.
I am having a hard time making my camera's autofocus behave when I'm using the remote. I'll have to reread the manual to see if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's just clueless, because ugh this is bad.

Very nice self-portrait.
With respect to the focus going crazy with the remote, mine does that sometimes, too. If you have the time, use the auto to focus on the spot you're going to be. Then, while it's still focused, switch to manual and blast away. |

great shot ... i really like your expression .. and i'm wondering wot sort of car you're leaning on and whether its yours ?? .. it looks like a classic car ?? ..
i bought a shutter release cable ages ago but i've never used it .. i started reading the manual etc etc and then lost interest .. i'm not very photogenic and thats probably part of the reason i didnt persevere ...
i hope you dont mind but i copied one of your gorgeous possum photographs into judy  jutilda's photograph of her son looking at the girl next girl trying to coax a squirrel to her .. i'll copy her's here so you dont have to go hunting for it .. being busy with your studies and all !!
edit a minute later after posting .. i was just reading your checklist and noticed the line about the bus and the dodge dart '72 .. spose that might answer my question about the car !!
