Basic editing. What a downer. Otherwise I may have entered this pic as a normal entry, with some detailed editing of areas, balanced it out, etc.

As it was, though, I went for extreme basic editing instead. I predict a 4 because DPC hates this stuff. Who cares?

Editing - Contrast, light/shadows, crop, curves, resize, resize sharper, USM, save for web.

Post-challenge : Yep, looks like I split the voters down the middle with this one, favouring the "I don't like it" side. Still worth a go though I think! Thanks for all the comments and views :)

'extreme basic editing' - heh

put it on my gravestone, or somewhere...

Funky funky funky. The sky's processing flattens it so it looks like one of the skies in a video game.

Well, teammate, I bombed this only because it really DNMC for me. I love the shot, it just doesn't fit Rural Landscape by my definition. The outrageous processing works for the shot

Lovely image but would be improved by backing off the saturartion.

Just slightly over the top for me. I see it has been validated - maybe I don't understand the rules completely. Would love to know how you did this inside the challenge rules.

Not a fan of this effect.

Ewww looks like it could have been a great scene but highly over saturated on my screen.

Too overdone with the editing

This seems overprocessed.

Many of these are lacking saturation. This one may be overboard in PP saturation, but the other-worldly title fits it.

this processing is over the top. From what I can see, this image has some great lines but the crazy colors don't work for me

Very interesting shot. Overdone, but if you're gonna overdo it, might as well go with an in-your-face approach and make it dramatic. I like it.

Whoa. Talk about editing just killing a shot.

I really like the framing of the shot, it's location and of course the cloud cover. I would have given this a higher score however, if more of it's natural aspect had been preserved. The color in the clouds is great, but as a sacrifice the bleeding of color thru saturation in the hillside is too distracting. I'd actually like to see the original.

I am cursing the fact that we weren't allowed advanced editing on this. I love the idea of the severe colors but I think using basic, it just didn't quite get the effect it deserves. Still a valiant effort.

I LOVE the idea/concept behind this. Technically it looks like you were inhibited by basic editing and went for the "bizarre" as opposed to a technically superior shot (which I think "almost" worked). Still I have to give this high marks for creativity.
