Can you tell what it is?

I've been enjoying others' images where even with a lot of blur, you can still tell what you're looking at. For example, this one from wildcard:

This is a scene that I see every day, as do thousands of others, but I wonder without that context whether people will know.

I got this by setting manual focus to the closest point.

i think of the LIncoln tunnel, but since you're in DC, I'll guess the Metro...

My first thought was some sort of tunnel too. Only there are what appear to be two silhouetted heads almost directly in front of you. Do tell, please. I'd love to know.

Does it really matter what it is? It's well placed in the frame and gives a definite feeling of movement; it does feel like a train tunnel, though I agree the pink doesn't fit into that mold very well.

I get the feeling it is a train coming down a tunnel. That's what I thought when I saw it on the thumb. Not that you can really tell, its just something about the composition. I really really like this by the way. Even with the blur, it looks so clean and pretty.

I was going to guess a tunnel, but that almost seems too obvious? I can't wait to find out what it is. The blur works very nicely here. It's adding to the mystery of not knowing what it is!

Maybe it is near the top of an escalator, perhaps with a round window facing a brick wall or pink flowers. Hmmm, I don't think thousands of people look inside their partly transparent vacuum cleaner hose every day.

Whatever it is, the image is effective. For some of the blurred images in this side challenge, the only thing making the picture different from any other out of focus shot is the title or story. For many others, the image works with no explanation. In this case, the sharpness of the circle at the end of the leading lines attracts the eye as the starting and ending point for exploring the rest. I think the pink in the upper part addes interest and gives the impression of diffusion of light coming through the pink circle.

I think it's the light at the end of the tunnel, sort of.

yeah looks like a tunnel of some sort at first glance but I have a feeling it's something much smaller.

Or are you shooting from the Metro station bottom up that long long long escalator ride up to the top?

I know it's not .. but it has a great keyhole appearance!

it's that funky subway in washington, with the train coming, isn't it? i only know it from pics, but that's what i think, anyway. nice image, but i'm not mad on the pink tinge in the upper part of it.
