I'm cheating. This was taken yesterday, but I think it's a lot more interesting than my toenails or the inside of my refrigerator.

I didn't realize, until recently, that there is a tremendous sub-culture of Spanish dancers in our town. It's most a female activity, and it runs in certain groups and families. Our receptionist, for example, started dancing when she was three years old, and her mother and grandmother are involved in dancing, too. Old Spanish Days (Fiesta) is the high point of their year. After it's over, they take about a month off, and in mid-September, they will start planning their costumes and routines for next year. All of the costumes are custom-made, and there is another subset of seamstresses who crank out these dresses, sometimes two a day for children. (They must be long days!)

I just loved the attitude of the little girls, dressed to the nines in their costumes, and waiting to perform, as opposed to their brother, who is dressed up, too, but just in "nice" clothes, and he has his football to play with. Then, of course, there are the adults, who are all paying attention to the baby.

This looks almost like a family portrait interrupted. I love the man with his child. They depict the energy of joy. The boy in the chair is just cracking me up.

The little girls all dressed up are way too cute!

Every face tells a story, even the blurred ones. The three seated children almost seem to be in different world than the adults. My first impression was that this was a photo of a returning veteran.

love this photograph ... the colours are stunning and the people are all so involved in their different ways ... that little girl sitting down on the right looks like a small adult, even down to the posture !! .. that little boy's expression is priceless .. the blur on the woman's face and the the boy being held in the air is an added treat in this great shot .. the look on the man's face is just beautiful ... :):) ..
