It survived! At least, this ear did. I'm going to gather more for supper tonight and we'll find out if this one was a bizarre anomaly.
This has been a full week, and you all are all my FRIENDS, now, right? right? [crickets], so I feel like updating about what's going on even though I don't have photos for most of it. Feel free to stop reading if you want.
My husband is assigned to a search-and-rescue incident as a telecom tech, so he's been gone since Wednesday, except for about 30 hours from Thursday night till very early this morning, and he probably won't be home until Monday. Meanwhile, we got preapproved for a home loan to buy the Day Seven house; now we just need to do a Jedi mind trick on all the people involved on the other side to make them accept our offer and to clear up all the probate-related red tape, and then we're home free. Well, not exactly FREE, more like "home having signed our lives away next to the big X [stifles scream]".
Also today, in addition to finding out that something I had planted had actually produced edible food, we submitted our entry blanks for this year's fair. For the past two years I've entered in the neighborhood of 20 photos; this year I'm only entering three, because a) it costs a good amount to get twenty 8x10s printed and mounted and b) I kept winding up with all these prints that I really didn't know what to do with. So this year I limited myself to pictures that I knew FOR SURE I would want to either give away or hang on my wall. So.
These are are really bright on my 'gamma-corrected' monitor. The trouble is, I correct the gamma "for print", as instructed, and then when I actually get things printed, the machine automatically darkens and contrasts so that stuff looks almost exactly like it does on a non-corrected monitor. So I edited these with my monitor uncorrected. If they look super-bright to you, that's why.
My nephew; I can give this to his parents. (this one is supposed to be high-key, so the 'brighter' version is wow crazy bright, on my monitor, anyway.)
Well first off, you corn looks delicious! That is really an awesome shot, great detail & color, you can taste it, the pic is so good! 2nd, best of luck with your pictures in the fair!!!
Beautiful corn, you have done an excellent job on this! Your story is amazing too! Life sure can get busy can't it! Good luck everything, especially on purchasing your new home!
I'm breathless after reading your comment! Great stuff and nice photos. I like the corn image, it is cool. But, the story is better. And, yes, I am your friend...
