 Missed by about a minute getting this into the free study challenge for July. I'm bummed.

Anyway...driving to work one morning I saw this burning house on the side of the 4 lane highway. Had to pull over (twice) to grab a few dozen quick shots. This was my favorite of the lot.

Sorry....no square crop on this one.

...From the activity I've seen post-fire it looks like this was set on purpose to clear the land. The remains were cleared away within two days and surveyor stakes have been placed all over the area.

WOW! This is amazing! I love that you can see the frame of the house as it burns away. Good to hear the fire wasn't an accident!

this is absolutely incredible .. the thumb just doesnt do this justice .. wot a shame you missed the free study .. fantastic photograph and a perfect composition .. :)

Wow, that is some fire. Great photo. The shot is amazing, more artistic I think than photojournistic -- it's like an abstract painting, with the flames floating in a black void. I love the shape of the flames. It looks like a book cover.

PS: I hope whoever lived there is okay and that there losses were covered as much as can be expected.
