Habeas corpus is a vital principle protecting liberty in the U.S. and elsewhere. If it's respected, you can petition a judge to request that the government demonstrate that imprisoning you is legal. You don't end up with people, including U.S. citizens, held for years without trial or formal charges being brought against them.

This guy was out in front of the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. I first spotted him when he was talking to a cop, and shot him with my zoom lens from about 50 yards away:

Then I walked up to him and asked if could photograph him. I figured he'd say yes; why would anyone turn down more publicity for his cause?

I tried various angles and focal lengths; I'm loving the wide end of this lens. I liked this composition, where he looms over the White House.

But this was another one I almost entered. The processing makes it look like he's in front of a backdrop, at least to me:

Nice job, Jeffrey. Good perspective, setting him off at a distance like that from the crowd.

Love the perspective and the mood in this picture, and of course the white house in the backround... But what does "Habeas corpus" mean?

Nice capture - Amazing b/W tones - even if there is a tad too much dodge on the sign! I like it.

I like the wide angle perspective here, making the guy with the sign tower above the background people and buildings. You dealt well with the lighting and it helps to see some detail in the clouds in the sky. 7 from me.
