OK before I start blathering about todays shot I guess I should say both a huge thank you for all the people who passed comments on yesterday's shots by me and the girls...I will add that for any of you who did not say that my buddleia was the best of the bunch....I hate you from the bottom of my rancid bitter heart!!!

Seriously, thank you all so much. Do you want to know what the best thing was? You all gave very positive comments (apart from those to me naturally) but you di not go overboard and make them saccharin sweet so the girls got a big boost from it but are not walking around thinking they are professionals (they may be walking around thinking they are still going to get pocket money or sweets from me in the future, but hey lets let them hang onto that misapprehension for a while....To be honest they will be lucky if I ever speak to them again)

OK well todays shot....Firstly it was taken with the cronky old vivitar (which is so much easier to carry around with me) so apologies for that

Daisy has broken up for the summer holidays, when she is at school I take her in on a Tuesday morning and Liz picks her up in the evening. During holidays it can get a bit trickier, often D and I will stay together on Tuesday morning and then I will drop her off at her mums at lunchtime. Today I had a meeting which meant I needed to be in London so Daisy got the chance to come down to my work (something that she loves). Anyway she worked like a trooper all day (she sorted out a mail shot of about 200, stuffing the envelopes etc and then transcribed a load of figures into a new word document. At lunchtime we went out to my favourite London pizzeria and she was totally fussed over by the wonderful Italian staff there (the way to a young girls heart is obviously having a waiter go 'bella bella signorita' to her). The other great thing about having Daisy with me is it meant I got to leave the office at a reasonable time.

Amazingly when we got to the station we got two seats together and then after we got past Watford Junction the train half emptied and Daisy - who by this time was completely bushed - got to lie down. Rather than take a picture of her sleeping I just shot this of her Lonsdale's (Cool but not as cool as her converse) because to me you only have to look at them to know they contain one tired kid (I almost thought about entering them in the faceless emotion challenge but then thought, well actually I would much rather the 'gang' saw them, so here you go)

OK better go do some commenting now, you better believe I am going to spread the hate after yesterdays efforts.... ;)

Nice photo, Jon, but for me it's the story makes it resonate so sweetly. I know I say this every other day, but you have a gift for storytelling (as well as for photography, OBviously) and have really met this photo/blog challenge head-on.

Comment EDITED for typos and to remove taint of self-pity.

OK, for some reason that just made me get a little verklempt. I am unclear as to why. Maybe because of the 'close to a memorable day with my little girl who's growing up' nature of this shot, I don't know. I think it's definitely a keeper for you.

The picture in and of itself is of course very nice as well. Nice perspective, contrast, sharpness, and I like the way the border ties into the main subject.

You must really be working her hard if a 10 year old is going to conk out before dinner lol.

This is a sweet, innocent moment here. As they get older we don't get to see them just curl up and snooze any more.

I like her tough girl shoes combined with the pink socks. :)

Sounds like another fun day for you guys!

You're right, you can tell it belongs to someone tired. Very cool shot. Sorry I didn't leave any comments on the girls' shots; my connection was bonky.

Wonderful shot, Jon. The inferior camera is doing a great job! Loved your story and the photo totally reflects it.

Another great story, and your picture certainly shows it. That cronky camera still does a decent job.

Great father daughter story Jon. They grow up way to fast. I can't believe my youngest is 17. Luckily she stays with me at least half the time. Of course she is driving and going places so that does not mean that I always get to see her. I diverge. Great story and a wonderful photo that really captures the moment and emotion.

I figured this was a shot of Daisy asleep after another long, fun day with her dad. Jon, I love all your stories, I look forward to hearing all the fun adventures you have (I am especially fond of the stories with Daisy :) You two have such a great realtionship! This is a great capture!

So what I'm reading here is that she's working under what kind of child labor laws? I mean, the poor girl looks beat!

Very cute image. I love the little parts of kids that speak volumes without saying anything. And her rolled up in a ball like that does so wonderfully.
